Update ESXi without Update Manager

Download the patch from the vmware website and upload it to the root of a local datastore.

Put the host into "Maintenance Mode"

Login to the console directly or enable SSH and connect.

Run the following command:

esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/[DATASTORE]/[PATCH_FILE].zip

Reboot
